Yokogawa Wins $50M Fieldbus Project November 25, 2002
Yokogawa Selected as Main Automation Contractor for a Major China Project
Yokogawa Electric Corporation announces that CNOOC and Shell Petrochemicals Company Limited (CSPC) selected it as the Main Automation Contract for the large petrochemical complex project. The order value is estimated to be $50 million US Dollars.
CNOOC and Shell Petrochemicals Company Limited (CSPC) is a joint venture between Shell Nanhai Limited (50%), China National Offshore Oil Corporation (40%), Guangdong Investment & Development Company (5%) and China Merchants Holdings Company (5%).The Joint Venture is constructing a new petrochemical complex in the Daya Bay Economic Development zone in the Municipality of Huizhou, China. The complex will contain several units including a 800kt/year Ethylene, a 240kt/year Ethylene Glycol (EG), a 560kt/year Styrene Monomer/Propylene Oxide (SMPO) and other related plants. The complex is scheduled to start operations in December 2005.
Yokogawa is committed to supply the latest and state of art technologies, to the highest quality and reliability to ensure the success of this world scale project so that CSPC can maintain a competitive edge and leadership in the growing Chinese petrochemical market. More specifically, Yokogawa, as Main Automation Contractor, provides Process Control and Manufacturing Information System solutions to this entire complex including an Integrated Production Control System "CENTUM CS 3000 R3 ", Operational Data Supervision System (Plant Information Management System) "Exaquantum", Plant Asset Management System "Plant Resource Manager ", Logistics Planning and Execution System "Movement Automation System", Safety Systems and Operator Training Simulator Systems. Yokogawa is working with CSPC and the Project Management Contractor BSF (Bechtel, Sinopec Engineering, Inc. and Foster-Wheeler) in the basic design phase to unify the design philosophy and architecture for the control and information management systems. The key requirement on this project is the extensive use of FOUNDATION Fieldbus technology including on-line device diagnostics and real-time, fully integrated plant operation data. To date, this is one of the world’s largest Foundation Fieldbus system project.
