Firmware Development Engineer POSITION REPORTS TO: Director of Shanghai Research Center and Engineering Manager of Business Unit LOCATION: Shanghai, China Position Summary: Performs specialized technical tasks, typically related to hardware/Firmware design or trouble-shooting, required to continually improve products by raising quality, lowering costs, adding features, and supporting internal and external customer requirements and applications. Principal Duties: * Perform any or all portions of a typical product development, including generation of a functional specification, detailed technical analysis, hardware and/or firmware design, simulation and/or prototyping, product verification and testing, and release to production. * Plan, schedule, and coordinate product development projects or significant trouble-shooting activities. * Apply project development methods and metrics per TQCS and ISO9000 guidelines. * Provide quick, accurate, and thorough analysis and solutions to customer questions and problems for any products being supported. This includes set-up, trouble-shooting, fixing, testing, documenting and releasing modifications and/or documentation to existing products. * Assist Operations and QA in resolving problems that might arise due to insufficient component procurement or due to component or module failures that may be discovered during various test stages. * Provide engineering input and/or assistance to Manufacturing on implementing new module assembly techniques, phase-in of new firmware and/or hardware revisions, and assistance to Service Order Repair on field returned module updates. * Perform other duties and assignments as necessary to reach department objectives. Requirements: * M Sc. and above in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, or the equivalent Engineering degree from top technical universities in China; * Must have 3-5 years design experience with embedded system, specially with PCB design and development of microprocessor, such as ARM, MIPS, or X86 etc; * Must be proficient with in Assembly, C, C++ and Visual C++ programming languages, Familiar with RTOS, such as VxWorks, ThreadX, etc. and multi-thread programming; * Must be capable of resolving complex technical cross-functional issues regarding component selections, design, testing, reliability, meeting product costing target, and on-going product improvements. * Must be knowledgeable of control automation products and industrial network protocols, such DeviceNet, controlNet, EtherNet/IP and etc.; * Able to make appropriate and effective use of oral and written English to communicate, cooperate and negotiate with diverse individuals and groups. * Able to work effectively and cooperatively in a team
