L-Core Technology
The L-Core technology provides the perfect platform for next generation nodes in LonWorks® networks. Complex sensors, fast actuators, or high-performance controllers are an easy task for the L-Core module. Sized like a notebook memory module, the L-Core module integrates an ARM® based CPU, memory, and an L-Chip network interface. By inserting the L-Core module into a main board that only contains a power supply, transceivers, and application-specific peripherals, the high-end node becomes reality. A real-time operating system, a software development kit, the ORION stack and the complete documentation set allow to complete the software development quick and efficiently
Simple
Developing an EIA-709 node is greatly simplified by the L-Core technology. Hardware development is stripped down to selecting application specific details, such as a power supply, a transceiver, and peripherals if needed. The daunting task of integrating CPU and memory can be omitted completely. Software development is supported by the various functions contained in the L-Core library. Fast and flexible networking provided by the ORION stack, various hardware interface functions and last but not least the open real-time operating system allow to solely concentrate on the development of the application.
Flexible
The L-Core module is powered by a fast 32-bit ARM7 CPU supported by 2 Mbytes DRAM memory and up to 2 Mbytes Flash memory. Thus, the available computing power and memory capacity satisfy even the most sophisticated control applications. Besides the memory bus, the developer can utilize 34 freely programmable I/O pins to connect peripheral devices to the L-Core module. Up to 2 EIA-709 transceivers can be attached simultaneously and the active transceiver can be selected in software. Reusing existing software is an easy task, since the L-Core software is written in C. The development tools are available as source code, so that the developer has full control over every aspect of the development.
Versatile
The illustrated HMI (Human Machine Interface) controller shows the manifold possibilities created by the L-Core technology: An LCD is directly connected to the memory bus, while buttons and switches are interfaced through digital I/O pins. The controller is equipped with an FT10 and TP-1250 transceiver. Relays are controlled by digital output pins and analog inputs are connected to the ADC input pins on the L-Core module.
