The purpose of this document is to provide information related to Anti-Virus software for Honeywell Process Solution provided systems. This document will provide information on which Anti-Virus software is qualified for the various Honeywell Process Solutions (HPS) products along with installation and configuration guidance.
It is assumed that the person installing and configuring the Anti-Virus software is familiar with installing the software and the various configuration options for the selected anti-virus software.
The intended user of this document is the person responsible for installing, configuring and maintaining anti-virus software on the process control system.
The target platforms defined in this document are any Honeywell Process Solutions provided equipment that is based on Microsoft Windows workstations and servers.
Honeywell Process Solutions systems are based on open-systems technologies such as Microsoft Windows based platforms. These platforms are vulnerable to virus and worm attacks . To reduce this vulnerability, anti-virus software is required on all Windows based process control nodes. The use of anti-virus software is one element of a comprehensive cyber security strategy.
Anti-virus software is effective in preventing the spread of a virus from an infected system. It will flag the fact that a virus has been detected and will either prompt for corrective action or attempt to clean the virus prior to a file being used by the system running anti-virus software.
Once anti-virus software is deployed, it must be kept up to date in order to remain effective. This includes the DAT files that are used to identify viruses and frequently updated and the anti-virus engines themselves.
To facilitate the use of anti-virus software on HPS provided systems, various versions of specific anti-virus software packages have been qualified for use with each release of HPS software.
HPS requires the installation of anti-virus software on the following node types:
· TPS
o GUS Nodes
o APP Nodes
· Experion
o Experion Station (all types)
o Experion Server (all types)
o ACE Nodes
o PHD Nodes
o eServer
o EAF Nodes
o EAS Nodes
· Other
o Any Honeywell provided node based on Microsoft Windows
o Any 3rd party node based on Microsoft Windows connected to HPS systems
