A P controller is used in a pressure control scheme and they ask you to implement it, meaning you should find the bias and the proportional band.
The pressure is measured using a pressure sensor with an input range from 10 to 100 bar, giving out a current between 4mA (at 10bar) and 20mA (at 100bar). The controller gives out a voltage to a valve between 0 V and 10 V. This valve is closed when it receives 0 Volts. All parts of the control system can be considered to be linear systems.
One of your colleagues has calculated that the desired controller should send 0.25 Volts less to the valve for every increase in pressure of 1 bar. Equilibrium should be reached at a pressure of 70 bar.
You put the controller in manual mode and open the valve completely. The sensor gives out 20mA in equilibrium now. Next, you decrease the voltage to the valve and when the valve is half open, the sensor gives out 14mA in equilibrium. When the valve is closed, the sensor gives out 6 mA in equilibrium.
Question 1: Calculate the bias in % of the total range.
Question 2: Calculate the proportional band.
Question 3: Make a graph containing the static process and control characteristic (use % of the total range on both axes).

Make sure that you understand what happens if certain things (like bias, proportional band, etc.) change.[/b]
